Daniel L A N E

  I am a fully qualified mechanic, fitter and welder fabricator with over 20 years of experience and a varied work history.   I thrive working independently under my own initiative or as part of a team, I enjoy challenging work and have the ability to identify and prioritise my work load. 

Work Experience

  2021 D Lane Engineering Limited became incorporated  
  2015 – 2021 Self employed  Alongside working with R Palmer and Sons, I began to create my own customer based, servicing, repairing and fabricating for farmers, foresters, agribusiness, private clients and more.

  
  2014 – 2021 R Palmer & Sons Ltd, Fordham, Cambridgeshire 

Went to full time to part time mechanic and engineer doing mechanics, repair and fabrication for all sorts of  farm machinery as well as fabrication and installation of gates and railings   


  2011 – 2014 David Harrison Handling Solutions, Ely, Cambridgeshire 

Full time time engineer, repairing, installing and fabricating  vegetable handling equipment  elevators, weighers, washer driers, vegetable graders, hoppers, inspection tables, field vegetable equipment, conveyors and box handlers 


 2007 - 2011 Middle fen and mere internal drainage board, Ely, Cambridgeshire  Land drainage board, flood prevention.  

Full time Fitter, my experience and reliability led me to supervise jobs and other men and organise plans of work 

Responsibilities:

 - Only Fitter to the board 

 - Maintain all static and mobile plant, machines and vehicles belonging to the board according to manufactures guidelines (JCB, Liebherr, O&K, Case,            New Holland, Perkins and Ford) 

 - Devise a maintenance schedule to ensure all plant are serviced on time and to follow routine inspections  

- Manufacture items for ancillary works from steel      

- Run a workshop stores efficiently,    
 2005 - 2007 R. Turner Haulage ltd, Bassingbourne Farm, Fordham, Cambridgeshire  

Medium sized Family run Haulage company and large Arable and Cattle Farm. 

 Full time HGV mechanic, gained respect and credit for fabrication work.  

Responsibilities:  

- Part of a team of 4 to maintain and repair a fleet of 35 heavy goods vehicles (Volvo, Scania and DAF) 

 - Maintenance and repair a fleet of 9 four wheel drive Toyotas (Hilux and Landcruiser) 

 - Follow routine vehicle inspection according to the guidelines from the Ministry of Transport 

 - Keep paper work for all of the 35 vehicles in order 

 - Maintenance of a wide range of farm machinery,  including hydraulic systems and electrical systems

  - Plan and under take many fabrication projects using Steel, Aluminium and timber

Well respected blacksmith company specialising in architectural metal work.  

Full time Blacksmith/metal worker. Granted skilled worker visa due to fabrication experience and knowledge of building techniques 

 Responsibilities: 

1 Work as part of a skilled team, where attention to detail is critical  

2 Plan and execute tasks in the workshop ranging from the fabrication of balustrades to door handles

3 To be able to Follow CAD drawings    

4 Work alone and with a team on construction sites following safety guidelines and meeting deadlines

Private House Renovation Site 

Responsibilities: 

1 Fabricate main steel structure of house on site  

2 Fabricate main stair within the house using steel and timber 

3 Assist renovations to a turn of the century town house, Assist all tradesmen on the site

I served my apprenticeship at R. Turner after completing a B-Tec diploma. I left in September 2003  to travel the world, upon my return to the UK in 2005 R. Turner re-employed me as a full time diesel mechanic. 

Education

 1997-2000 City and guilds level 1-3. Repair and servicing of road vehicles, Cambridge Regional College, Cambridgeshire.    

Studied: Vehicle systems, components, diagnostics, repair procedures and  practical work.    

Awarded Day release student of the year 

 2000  1996-1997 B-Tech First Diploma in Agricultural and Horticultural Mechanics, Milton Agricultural College Cambridge, Cambridgeshire. 

Subjects studied: Agricultural and Horticultural Mechanics, Farm Maintenance, Agricultural Studies and Principles, Health and Safety, Chainsaw Use. 

  1991-1996 GCSE Secondary education, Soham Village College, Cambridgeshire  

GCSE's in Science, English, Math, Geography, Wood work and metal work
